‘Health Communities in the North West’ - Public Health White Paper Events

Voluntary Sector North West in partnership with Regional Voices is holding two events in the North West. to hear about and discuss the implications of the changes proposed in the public health White Paper: Healthy Lives, Healthy People.

Wednesday 2nd March 2011

9.30 am – 2.15 pm

The Gateway, Warrington, WA1 1SR

Wednesday 23rd February 2011

9.30 am – 2.15 pm

Gujarat Hindu Society Centre, Preston, PR1 8JN

Public health is about everything society does to prevent people getting ill, rather than treating sickness, and we all have a role and responsibilities. The Government’s White Paper on Public Health puts local government and local communities at the heart of improving health and wellbeing and tackling inequalities – improving the health of the poorest, fastest. A new integrated public health service – Public Health England – will be created to ensure excellence, expertise and responsiveness, particularly on health protection.

Both events will feature key regional public health input both as key note speakers and in the workshops. There will also be an opportunity to hear about the latest developments in the Health and Social Care Bill currently before Parliament.
