The ‘Don’t be a Cancer Chancer’ campaign will connect with the local community to encourage people over 50, who may delay a visit to their GP, to seek medical attention earlier if they suspect the first signs of Lung, Breast or Bowel cancer: a persistent cough, usual breast lump or rectal bleeding (a bleeding bum).

Share your Dignity Action Day stories:

Inspire others by sharing your experiences of the Dignity Action Day 2011: submit your stories, memories and photographs.

Submit your stories in the DAD memory book

Protect someone's dignity:

Jennifer Mort, an Auxiliary Nurse in the East Midlands, says: "Sometimes patients are brought to our outpatient department from other areas or wards and they are inappropriately dressed so to protect their dignity, keep them warm and treat them as I would want to be treated, I get them a blanket or dressing gown. This is something I do as part of the ten dignity challenges."

Also, we would really appreciate you sending this to any of your members that my find the content useful.

Patient and Public Involvement Policy
We have recently revised and updated our policy on how we involve patients, carers and members of the public, a copy of which can be found on our website - http://www.nice.org.uk/getinvolved/patientandpublicinvolvement/patientandpublicinvolvementpolicy/patient_and_public_involvement_policy.jsp.  The policy has a clear ‘mission statement’ about why NICE values and supports patient and public involvement, includes details of how patients, carers and members of the public can work with us, and the support available to them.
I’m just writing to let you know that NICE is seeking a Chair and members to join its Commissioning Outcomes Framework (COF) Advisory Committee.

Please find below the relevant links with more information about COF, the role/s and how to submit your application:

Come and give your views on how we can tackle “SUBSTANCE ABUSE”

People who are substance abusers are at a higher risk of dying in a fire, which is why Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service supports partner agencies who work in this area.

We are planning how we will continue this work in the future – and we need your input.

You are invited to a free community consultation event at Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service HQ.

This will look at how we currently provide services with our partners to support those clients who are known to be substance abusers and how we can work together in the future. It will be an interactive and informative event and aims to support our joint work with our partners across Merseyside.
