Liverpool doctors make eye cancer break through

DOCTORS in Liverpool have made a breakthrough in the battle against eye cancer.
A team of clinicians at the Royal Liverpool Hospital have found a genetic link indicating whether the cancer will spread.

This means they can give patients an accurate prognosis.
The research was presented at the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) conference, which took place at the city’s Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre .
The hospital has been performing the tests for 10 years and are now ready to present the results.
Other hospitals are following suit after seeing the research. Eye cancer can often spread to the liver and, once this has happened, prognosis is often short. The work is funded by cancer Research UK.
