New appointment at University Hospital Aintree

A Knowsley GP has been appointed as Director of Strategy and Innovation at Aintree University Hospital to help ensure the best quality of services for patients.

Dr Chris Mimnagh joins the Foundation Trust from NHS Knowsley, where he has been Medical Director for five years.

He takes up his position at Aintree on 1 August, and his role at Aintree will see him further strengthen relationships with GPs in the region.

And Dr Mimnagh will also work with clinical teams to continue to improve levels of patient care.

Catherine Beardshaw, Chief Executive of Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome Dr Mimnagh to Aintree.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise that will enable us to further develop our working relationship with GPs, primary care services and social care organisations.

“We need to work with these partners, and others, if we are to deliver the highest quality of services for our patients.”

During his time at NHS Knowsley, Dr Mimnagh managed a number of initiatives which resulted in increased GP and dental practices, the creation of patient participation groups to gather the opinions of patients and the development of educational services in the area.

He said: “The NHS is going through a period of change and there is now greater emphasis placed on the relationship between Trusts and local GPs.

“I am looking forward to working with all of our partners across the health and social care sectors for the benefit of patients.”
