Your chance to have your say on the future of healthcare in Liverpool

Local people have the chance to have a say on the future of healthcare in Liverpool by becoming a Governor at our Trust. Elections, being run by the independent company, Electoral Reform Services (ERS) are being held for the Council of Governors this spring.

All Members of the Foundation Trust will receive information about the elections in a letter which will be dispatched by ERS on March 23rd . The letters will include an invitation to nominate themselves to stand for election as a Governor. Members interested must complete a nomination pack which needs to be returned to ERS by April 11.

The elections will be conducted by a postal ballot which will be held between May 5th  and 25th  and results will be announced on May 26th .

Governors have a real say in services provided by the Royal, Broadgreen and Dental hospitals and in particular, Governors will be involved in the Trust’s future plans.

Judith Greensmith, Chair of the Trust said: “We are very excited to be able begin this election process. The Council of Governors will play a very important part of our hospitals and we are looking forward to welcoming the new Governors this summer. If you are passionate about the NHS and want to influence the way we provide services, then please think about putting yourself forward for the role of governor.”

Nine Governors have already been appointed by partnership organisations, such as local universities, charities, local primary care trusts and voluntary organisations. The Council of Governors will have 22 governors elected by our Members. Five governors will be elected by staff Members and seventeen Governors will be elected by Members from our Public Constituency.

Our application to become a foundation trust has been assessed by the Department of Health and is now being assessed by the independent regulator of foundation trusts, Monitor.

For more information about the elections or foundation trusts go to http://www.rlbuht.nhs.uk/, visit the membership office which is located in the main reception area of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, ring for a chat on 0800 694 0180 or email foundationtrust.office@rlbuht.nhs.uk
