Sefton’s NHS volunteers praised at Christmas event

NHS Sefton held a Christmas party to honour the many local people who carry out voluntary work for the organisation.

The celebration was to say a special thanks to Sefton volunteers for all their hard work and commitment and for giving their time and expertise to help others.

The event was organised by the Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) team.

On the day more than 30 volunteers and staff joined in the fun, with interim chairman Frances Street, acting chief executive Dr Janet Atherton and assistant chief executive, Barbara Strong.

The party included a free raffle of prizes which were donated by members of staff, and children from Holy Trinity School choir added to the festive atmosphere by singing some favourite Christmas carols.

Public engagement manager, Carole Cantor, said: “The volunteers do such a great job and this event gives us the opportunity to present them with certificates and thank everyone for all their hard work throughout the year.”

In the past 12 months, the volunteers have freely given thousands of hours of their time playing an important role in patient care, and supporting NHS Sefton staff.

They have carried out roles in health centres, headquarters, community offices and running self management courses.

Janet Atherton, acting chief executive said: “I was honoured to attend the event and meet our volunteers to personally thank them for their time and commitment to NHS Sefton.

“These people deserve recognition for kindly giving their time and expertise to help others.”
