Regional health organisation shine in Sefton awards

Healthcare professionals from across Sefton have been honoured at a special awards ceremony hosted for the first time ever late last month. NHS Sefton and Sefton Council joined forces to hold the awards ceremony at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre on November 24, and this week congratulated the winners on their achievements.

“It’s great to hear about so many fantastic services and initiatives and to see such enthusiasm and commitment from the people who provide them,” said Fiona Clark, director of corporate performance and standards at NHS Sefton.

“The ceremony was also about celebrating the achievements of all healthcare professionals in Sefton who are making a real difference to people’s health and treatment every single day. Local people should be proud - they are all award winners!”

Among the winners were Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals NHS Trust, who won awards in the Clinical Effectiveness and Sustained Achievement categories, and Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, who came up trumps in the Innovation and Ensuring Patient Safety.

“We are delighted to have won a Quality Award from NHS Sefton. The clinical teams work hard to consistently deliver high quality care for patients and are motivated to achieve more,” said Sheila Lane, Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals, Advancing Quality Project Lead.

“This recognition also goes to the Informatics Department, clinical coders and data extractors who make sure that the relevant information is collected and delivered on time.”

The judging panel included a member of Sefton’s Local Involvement Network, Sefton PCT’s Executive Nurse, Hill Dickinson representative, NHS Sefton Non Executive Director and a representative from Sefton Council.

“I was very proud to attend NHS Sefton’s Quality Awards. There are so many good examples of high quality of healthcare across the borough which we should all be proud of,” said Charlie Barker, Strategic Director for Health and Well Being at Sefton Council.

“The event has given me and others the opportunity to see the excellent work carried out by teams of talented and dedicated staff.”

The event's organisers told The Champion the evening proved to be a great success, with over 120 people attending to celebrate the hard work and commitment of their colleagues.
