Sefton Partnership awarded a second consecutive award from The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH)

Improving the health and wellbeing of the borough has earned Sefton Partnership a second consecutive prestigious award from The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH).

Sefton Partnership, made up of NHS Sefton, Sefton CVS, Sefton Council, One Vision Housing and the May Logan Healthy Living Centre, were one of only seven UK organisations to be presented with the RSPH’s Health Promotion and Community Wellbeing Organisation and Partnerships Award this year.

Cllr Ian Moncur, chair of the Sefton Shadow Health and Well-being Board presented all of the organisations with certificates at a local event, at Bootle Town Hall, to celebrate the success.

Cllr Moncur, said: “This award is a real achievement and truly shows how Sefton’s organisations are working together to improve health and wellbeing across the borough. I would like to thank everyone throughout the organisations for their hard work and dedication to the people of Sefton and also to receive this highly sought-after award.”

The RSPH honoured Sefton because of its achievement in developing and implementing health promotion and community wellbeing strategies and initiatives.

These were achieved through targeted work across areas such as schools, workplaces and community projects.

The targeted work includes One Vision Housing’s urban garden to help tackle inequalities and unemployment, Creative Alternative arts on prescription and the May Logan Centre which is dedicated to improving the health, wellbeing and quality of life for local people in Bootle.

The 2011 prestigious accolade is a result of Sefton working hard to strengthen joint working and build health promotion throughout the borough since 2008, when three organisations joined together to win the award.
Dr Janet Atherton, Sefton’s director of public health, said: “To be acknowledged by the Royal Society for Public Health for the second time is a huge affirmation of the strength of partnership working in Sefton.”
