People can now easily see patients' electronic feedback about their local health services - even if they are not computer users. A new digital service offered by Kirklees council will take data from Patient Opinion, a website founded by Sheffield GP Paul Hodgkin, to convey views on NHS organisations.
Dr Hodgkin said he was excited by the partnership with Looking Local as it makes it easier to bring patient feedback to even more people through digital TV and mobile phones.
Looking Local (formerly DigiTV) has been running since 2004, initially as part of the former ODPM's e-Government programme, is now a service owned and managed by Kirklees on behalf of local government and its partner community.
Launching first in Sefton, Patient Opinion will soon be available to all Looking Local partners - currently standing at 125 - and allow millions of people to see what others are saying about their local services, and how services are responding.
David Hammond, engagement officer at NHS Sefton said, "Our services on digital TV are already reaching people in the community who otherwise have no electronic access, and this will simply allow them to be part of the wider health debate."
