Sefton Young Advisors are trained, professional young people aged 15 to 21 who specialise in advising community leaders and decision makers how to engage young people in community life. When we were informed of the work the Mental Health Improvement Programme were carrying out, we were very interested in how we could be involved with the work, and soon met with Paul Greenwood to find out more about the programme, and also give more of an insight as to how our services could benefit the programme.
Sefton Young Advisors have been working with the MHIP programme to support a network that allows young people to share their experiences and proposals regarding how mental health services could be improved. Young Advisors look forward to ensuring the network is set up in a way that engages and appeals to young people. We are young people ourselves, and have found from experience that our perspective ensures services are more successful in achieving their aims and reaching as many young people as possible. We want to help the network to support young people to share their experiences of mental health services and, together, improve mental health services for young people. We are looking forward to working with the programme and making a positive contribution to the improvement of mental health services for young people.
