Outstanding work by NHS Sefton staff was celebrated at the primary care trust’s Quality Awards on Wednesday 23rd March. The awards recognised employees in both Community Health Services and commissioning who have gone the extra mile over the past year to improve the health and care of Sefton residents. There were two winners in each of the nine awards categories. All nominations came from colleagues. Nominees, plus other guests, attended the Quality Awards ceremony, held at Formby Hall Golf Club.
“I’d like to pay particular tribute to the 1,300 staff who work in Community Health Services as they move to the management of Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust and Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust. They have achieved so much over the past few years and make a real difference every day. Sefton residents should be proud of their community health professionals, who will continue to improve services even further in the future.”
With around 200 people attending the event, each winner was loudly applauded as they collected their award. Amongst those presenting the awards were chair of Sefton LINk, Ann Bisbrown-Lee and deputy chair of Sefton LINk, Arthur Roberts as well as chair of South Sefton Diabetes Support Group, Barrie Morgan.
Non executive director, Keith Cawdron, opened the event. He took the opportunity to thank all NHS Sefton staff for their hard work and commitment to providing high quality health services for local people.
He said: “Since becoming a non executive director with NHS Sefton, I’ve gained some insight into the excellent work that takes place in the community. It’s important that we recognise these special contributions made towards improving health and health services in Sefton – this is an opportunity to praise the good work of all NHS Sefton staff.”
